Keep Track of Your Credit Score, Identity

Small business owners, home business workers, and others who are self-employed are usually keenly aware of what is on their credit report and take advantage of the fact that major credit reporting bureaus will offer a free credit score report.

Entrepreneurs have to maintain a sense of financial stability and keeping track of credit scores is the best way to see where you stand in terms of financing options and credit for your business. It is also important to keep track of possible cases of identity theft that could affect credit scores. Staying informed on major purchases or actions taken on your financial behalf is a priority so be sure to cover all of your bases with every financial situation you have created.

It is also important to monitor the flow of information through your business which could be compromised by any unsavory character. You should always know who has access to your information, and which types of information each person has access to. One great idea is to have a “fire plan” in place in case of identity theft or a breach in your information’s security. Know what steps to take in the event of identity theft, and keep track of your credit score to stay prepared and alert.
